Information for Parents & Guardians

Flackle is for people aged 16 and over. This page explains how we protect 16 and 17-year-olds, what we can’t do, and how to reach us.

Who can use Flackle?

Flackle is open to anyone from the age of sixteen upwards. We have security measures in place that will prevent anyone registering an account with a date of birth less than 16 years old.

We rely on the date of birth entered at registration, and it cannot be manually altered by the user once the account has been created.

If you think an account is registered with the wrong age, contact support@flackle.com we will ask you to verify your identity through Stripe.

Before you let your teen use Flackle it is recommended you familiarise yourself with the Terms of Service.

Extra protections for under-18s

Flackle has been built in such a way that an adult cannot start a Direct Message with a teen unless they are friends. By default an adult is also unable to send a teen a friend request. The teen is in full control of who contacts them.

Conversations involving teens get much stricter moderation, and reports involving minors get a higher priority.

Any images or videos shared in private conversations involving a teen are scanned for any sexual or exploitative content.

Any form of pornographic or sexual media are banned across Flackle, including in DMs. Any content that sexualises or exploits minors, including AI-generated or modified images is also banned across the platform and the sharing of it is reported to NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children).

What we can’t do

  • Age is self-declared, so someone can enter the wrong date of birth.

  • Voice and Video calls are end-to-end encrypted. So we can’t here or see them. We rely on reports.

  • The upload scan doesn’t check message text, calls or screen-shares.

  • Consensual text conversations between adults are allowed, so a teen in a server with adults can still see adut conversation there.

Parental Controls

We plan to offer parent and guardian controls, but they aren’t available yet. We will update this page as and when.

Talking with your teen

  • Agree with them what to do if someone asks for photos, money or to switch to another app.

  • Show them how to Block and Report users, and tell them they won’t get in trouble for using these tools.

  • Remind them never to share their passwords, 2FA codes, or their home address.

Reporting a concern

Your teen can use the Report Abuse tool within Flackle for any messages they receive that makes them feel uncomfortable. Their identity is kept anonymous from the user they are reporting.

You are more than welcome to email us directly, or to open a support ticket with any links, usernames, or message ID’s without the need for a Flackle account.

Any CSAM content, you should not download, take screenshots of or forward it. Instead just send the link, message ID or, username relating to the content and our Support Team will deal with it.

If you feel like your child is in immediate danger you should call local emergency services in the first instance.
